Bathroom changes need a new shower and bath tub, give me some plans . I would like to put tile in shower.?

I would like light brown in color of he tile.Bathroom changes need a new shower and bath tub, give me some plans . I would like to put tile in shower.?
sounds as if you want to do this work yourself? I don't like to burst your bubble, but hire a pro to do it. I know builders that sub that part of jobs out to glass pros. If you are off a tiny, tiny, bit that can't even be measured, you will have leaks. And that will be the least of your problems! Then you'll be ready to kill yourself and still have the cost of hiring it done. If you can do the tile yourself, you'll be doing something. Remember, all that tile needs to be cut to fit in corners and around places. I'm sorry I am so negative. When I bought my house 3 years ago, I read every book and investigated every option. I still can't do it, but I can watch someone else and tell them what they are doing wrong! Maybe that's why I get charged more? Much luck to you............Bathroom changes need a new shower and bath tub, give me some plans . I would like to put tile in shower.?
It appears that the question period has expired. If you have received an answer that meets your needs, please choose a 'best answer.'

  • Bath tub drain wont drain?

my tub is over 50 years old and it is in excellent condition. but it doesnt have a stopper that normal drains have. its on open hole. now, the drain is usually closed and the head of it where you open and close it does not work and i have none of the tools needed nor the money to replace it. what can I do?Bath tub drain wont drain?
I agree with the rubber stopper solution until you can get the fixtures replaced. Now for the drainage problem. Your drain is probably clogged with hair. Walmart has a hook remover in the sporting goods section that looks like a small needle nose pliers. It is basically a hemostat.

Use this to reach down into the drain and pull out the hair. It is gross, but it will clear your drain. Been there, done that.Bath tub drain wont drain?
The real problem is that your plumbing is over 50 years old. Be extra careful as your plumbing is likely brittle and will break easily. You could remove the overflow cover with a flat head screw driver and remove the waste and overflow plug that should be attached to a rod or chain, if I understand you correctly.
If you have no tools and no money, and apparently no one to help, then there's not much you can do but set and look at it.
how about a rubber stopper.... this will hold water when you want it too and drain when you remove it - cheap and inexpensive if you do not have the means to replace your tub drain........
You might try twisting the plug to remove it. That is how mine works.
ur bathtub sounds creepy and gross

I have two males n six females for breeding i have them in a bath tub is that to many for a bath tub?

i hope any one can help thank you I have two males n six females for breeding i have them in a bath tub is that to many for a bath tub?
I repeat the earlier question. What are Yabbies? I've never heard of them and I ain't dumb - or rudeI have two males n six females for breeding i have them in a bath tub is that to many for a bath tub?
    Uh, what type of animal?

And you shouldn't keep any animal for any reason in a bath tub. They need proper cages and personal space and to be treated like animals, not machines.
There may be 2 too many females depends on the size of the tub?

What else have you got in there ????

    Yuck
what animals have you got in there?
    what the heck are yabbies?

Girls. When inside swimming pool or bath tub will water enter deep in vagina? How you will take it out?

Water does not go inside the vagina.

WHY? is because the pressure of the water prevents water from going up there.

I hope I helped!Girls. When inside swimming pool or bath tub will water enter deep in vagina? How you will take it out?
In a word - NO!Girls. When inside swimming pool or bath tub will water enter deep in vagina? How you will take it out?
Um...I don't think it enters deep in the vagina.....

Miyagi should shop online, google search ';Chia pet seeds'; and buy replacement seeds. Then, Miyagi must replant Sparky according to manufacturer's instructions.

When renting a cabin would you like a hot tub or two antique clawfoot bath tubs with endless hot water better.

I am planning on setting up a cabin in the mountains and was wondering if people would like two old clawfoot tubs out on the porch as much as they love the hot tubs I usually put in the cabins. When renting a cabin would you like a hot tub or two antique clawfoot bath tubs with endless hot water better.
I would prefer the hot tub. When renting a cabin would you like a hot tub or two antique clawfoot bath tubs with endless hot water better.
Antique claw foot tub for sure! They add so much character and ambiance. Someone is quite the romantic.
Hot tub is better and wastes less water

If it takes 10 hrs to drain a bath tub (5700 cm^3), what is the flow rate in kg/s?

I'm not sure what the unit conversion between cm ^3 and kg is...

If it takes 10 hrs to drain a bath tub (5700 cm^3), what is the flow rate in kg/s?
    velocity(speed)= mass/time

    so basically velocity=5700/10

    velocity=570kgcm3/h

How to refinish a claw foot bath tub?

Take a look at this web site http://integritycoatings.com/ They give some pretty good information on what you have to do to paint ceramic tile or bath tub; as you can see it is not a easy job. But they give out a free sample. You probably should have a professional tub refinisher in your area estimate the job. It might be worth it to have them come do it or you might just p/u some stuff called ';Klenks'; which you can brush on , but it will not look as good or last as long. How to refinish a claw foot bath tub?
best way is professional,How to refinish a claw foot bath tub?
you could frame a box around it.go the height of tub about 12in. wide then tile.this finishes it off and you have a great look.
Buy a new one or have it done professionally. The do it yoursefl stuff looks horrible and comes off in a month.
I have one in one of my bathrooms. It, of course is very old and I just put a coat of white paint on the outside of it and then took some of the ivy boarder I used on the walls and put it on the tub. What a conversation piece it is!! There are lots of options, use your imagination and have fun!!
    Clip it's nails.
I did one myself about 2 years ago plus an old pedestal sink. i bought the kit at lowes, it's a 2 stage process but not hard to do and it cost under 20 bucks, the only problem is you cannot use the tub for about 5 days until it totally dries and it should be in an area that is pretty much dust free.go to lowes or home depot and in the paint section and tell them what you want to do and they will get it for you, also they can tint it any color you want.
    pros use epoxy paint

I just moved into a new house and theres years of paint build up in the bath tub, how do i get rid of it?

someone please help, its taking the hole look off the bathroomI just moved into a new house and theres years of paint build up in the bath tub, how do i get rid of it?
Well, you could buy a tub liner. It's like a shell that goes in your tub and makes it look like a brand new tub! or this may be a bad idea but maybe you could use paint thinner? just let it soak and scrub a little but remember that you have to dispose of it properly, you cant just let it go down the drain. i think the best thing to do would be to go to your local home depot and ask someone for help, i'm sure they could answer you question and you can buy the correct products in the store. Good luck!I just moved into a new house and theres years of paint build up in the bath tub, how do i get rid of it?
This question baffles me, why is there paint in the bathtub at all? I am a painter and this does not even make sense. You can buy paint remover in a can, but might damage the tubs surface. Try on a small area first. You might, after removing paint, be able to have someone come in a resurface the tub. There are many companies that do this. Or, literally just get a new tub, will really be better in the long run.
I would put paint thinner over it and use a putty scraper to pry it off. Make sure to let the thinner sit a few so it can absorb some.

Want pant my bath tub is that possible?

Yes.. you can definitely take your pant of in the bath tub!!!Want pant my bath tub is that possible?
i think you mean paint!Want pant my bath tub is that possible?
Yes, but you will never be able to scour it again. Use epoxy paint make for bathtubs, prepare as directed on can. Apply as directed. Will hold up ok, but will have to be redone done the line. Good luck
panting in your bathtub eh??????? are you alone, or is someone making you pant?

    please send pictures either way.
yeah you can. Try using spray paint.
It all depends upon what material has been used to manufacture ur bathtub. If it is porcelain or acrylic as these r usually used for bathtubs then it is not possible. You better buy a new bathtub.
Do you mean refinish your bathtub? If so you can have it done professionally or you can get a do-it-yourself kit from Home Depot. It looks really nice as I have a neighbor around the corner who did hers.

  • Can I use enamel or acrylic to cover a VERY small chip in my bath tub paint?

They make a special paint for tubs and sinks to repair chips. It isn't expensive and you can get it at any big box store or your local hardware store. Can I use enamel or acrylic to cover a VERY small chip in my bath tub paint?
Neither will give you durability or long term performance in a wet environment like a bathroom. You don't say what the tub is made of but no matter the composition, fiberglass, enamel over cast iron, or acrylic, each has its own paint manufactured specifically for touch ups on those surfaces. You really need to know what the tub is made of and then head to the home improvement center to purchase the correct touch up paint for it.

I have on old antique bath tub with a serial number on it. Where can I price its value?

I would try contacting an antique dealer in your area. They have books that tell you the going rate for these things.

I would NOT try selling it on eBay until you got a professional to give you a price.

I just found this great website with a lot of information on antique tubs:

    http://www.the-home-improvement-web.com/鈥?/a>

It lists a couple of places to help identify, and price your tub:

    http://www.appraisersassoc.org/

    http://www.appraisers.org/

I think I would still try an antique dealer in your area first. They can look it up, and probably won't charge you anything. If you don't get anywhere there, you can try those other places.I have on old antique bath tub with a serial number on it. Where can I price its value?
Im A plumber so here you go.

If your talking about a claw foot tub?

To price a old tub is not as easy as you might think.

    Most tubs sold today are new and customers know this BUT%26gt;

Old tubs have alot of value in them.

I have takein out old tubs of houses and sold them for 2000.00 plus I even sold 1 for 7500.00

There are more people then you think that want old tubs and will pay the price for them.

You could try E-bay ^ with a reserved price (high amount) and see what hits.

Also your local plumbing supply places might know who is looking for 1.

Im not talking bout home depot or Lows I mean A plumbing supply place.

I wish I could help you more with this but you didnt give enough info on the unit. If you did I would be able to help you out more with this.

If you like you couuld e-mail me with the info @

On my bath tub the hot water handle well just trun what do i need to do to get the water to come out?

Sometimes there is a small set screw at the base of the handle that comes undone. Look to see if one exists and see if you can tighten it. Hope that helps. On my bath tub the hot water handle well just trun what do i need to do to get the water to come out?
Washingtonstreet probably hit it. It's a good chance the handle is stripped. You'll need to remove and replace it. There might be a trim piece in the center that hides an attaching screw as well as the set screw washington referred to. Worst case is the stem is broken or stripped. Thats a little more involved but doable. Check the handle first. On my bath tub the hot water handle well just trun what do i need to do to get the water to come out?
Tighten the center screw. It that doesn't work remove it and the handle %26amp; see which part is stripped. If it is the handle go to the hardware %26amp; buy a new one. Take the old with you.

If it is the stem of the faucet %26amp; you aren't handy call a plumber or a friend.

    Good Luck.
    Hire a plumber? Perhaps?
Handle or stem definately stripped. Pop the cap off (If it has one) with your fingernail or a flathead, unscrew the screw in the center. Remove the handle. Open the tap with pliers til you can get a replacement handle.

What can i use to add my daughters bath tub water to soften skin??

what can i add to my daughters6 yrs old) bath water while in tub? i tried baby oil but it just repels, and kind of remedy? also i noticed around her ball of foot and heel its abit dry, crack, what lotion or foot scrub can i use to help, please help this single dad with a special daughter :) thank you. What can i use to add my daughters bath tub water to soften skin??
johnson and johnsons soothing lavendar soap....and a touch of baby oil on the skin after to lock in moisture. What can i use to add my daughters bath tub water to soften skin??
Johnson %26amp; Johnson's Bathtime bubble bath. Located in the soap isle or baby products. Always keeps the skin soft and smooth. I'm 23 still using it and I have very smooth and soft skin.
I agree..... DEFINATELY Johnsons and Johnsons products. You can buy ointment in the chemist for the cracked and dry heel. Just ask at the counter for what is best. For GODS sake, DO NOT add cheap brand bath foams like ';BARBIES FOAM BATH'; to ure daughters bath. These are just cheap products that can have serious effects to young skin. Make sure to check the socks that ure daughter wears. Holes in the heels of socks can cause this as can the detergent you use to wash the socks in. Come to think of it, it sounds like ure daughter may be having an allergic reaction to the powder you wash her clothes in. ALWAYS buy Anti-biological detergent. Some detergents can irritate a childs skin as can the clothes softener you choose. Buy a good (not a cheap brand) of 2-in-1 detergent. I really feel this will work. If this fails, it may be a reaction certain types of food. You can save ureself being the detective by simply taking her to the doc for an allergy test. If the skin is peeling, its not good and the best and most appropriate solution is the allergy test. It bearly costs a thing and ure daughter is worth it...isnt she?

All the best mate and Merry Christmas to you both.
Immediately after drying her skin, apply Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula .It also has a nice chocolate smell.Avoid adding anything to the bathwater as it can cause irritation or infection in young children.
Use vitamin E and sorbolene cream if you can get it where you are. it is so gentle and will sort out any kind of skin dryness issues

My wedding ring just went down the bath tub how do i retrieve it?

Yep.. a plumber. My wedding ring just went down the bath tub how do i retrieve it?
    1. don't use the tub until you get the ring

    2. use a wet/dry vac set up for wet pick up.

You will probably have to remove the trip lever mechanism (two screws) and / or the stopper mechanism. Block one while you apply the vac hose to the other.

With respect to comments above often tub traps are not accessible without opening up the ceiling below.

This should get you what you want if the ring is still in the tub trap. If it is not there then it has gone further down the drain and the next (and last) place you can look for it is the house trap. That is a little ...tricky-er.My wedding ring just went down the bath tub how do i retrieve it?
I agree. You might be able to access the trap by yourself, and even get it off, but if you're not experienced, you may need a plumber to put everything back and get it leakproof, so you might as well call one now. And, if you can, -turn off the water- to the tub, so you don't accidentally run it. If you can't do that, at least block the drain.
You will need to take the plumbing apart in the basement or crawl space. There is a ';u'; piece where it's probably stuck. I wouldn't run any water in the tub until you can retrieve it. Once it gets past that part of the drain then it is probably gone. If it were me, I'd call a plumber and have them retrieve it asap.

I'd be in tears until I had it back on my finger.
It's in the trap below. Don't panic!! I have retrieved my wife's stuff before. Get a hanger or other long, slightly flexible wire, and attach something sticky to the end. Like bubblegum or anything stickier. If this doesn't work the trap below can be taken apart and removed. Your ring is in there. Good luck.
';IF'; you're lucky, it's in the trap, but for the most part if any water was running, it stands a good chance it's gone...

tell hubby to buy you a larger model so it won't fall past the drain opening!
Call a plumber ~ he will have to go beneath the tub and open up the pee trap and with any luck, your wedding ring will be lodged in there.
Call a plumber or wave goodbye.

Can i connect a jacazzui and heater bath tub to the same outlet?

Probibly wouldnt be very smart unless its an unregular outlet (more ampere, Volts)Can i connect a jacazzui and heater bath tub to the same outlet?
You will probably pop fuses. Try it out and see what happens. Are you going to be using both at the same time? How old is your Electrical system. Many questions here to give you a real answer. good luck though. Can i connect a jacazzui and heater bath tub to the same outlet?
    Hazardous
First step is to find out how many amps your jacuzzi draws and whether it's 120 or 240 volts. Then determine the amps/voltage of the heater bath tub. If they aren't the same voltage, it won't work.

If they are the same voltage, add up the number of amps they draw. Then go down to your circuit breaker the outlet is attached to and determine the amount of amps that circuit can handle. Typically it will be displayed right on the switch. If the number of combined amps is 20% or less than the circuit break, great! If not, stop.

If still want to power both items from one outlet, you'll need to have a circuit breaker with enough amps to power it, house wire thick enough to carry the appropriate amps, and an outlet that can handle the same amps.
they would each need at least45 amp. coverage. 60 to 90 amp breaker might work. which is the norm for 240 applications.
Probably a bad idea, as this may overload the circuit. Best to get a qualified electrician to come in and properly wire these items.
The best thing to do would be to put each of the units on their own designated breakers, having both on would probably overload the circuit and trip the breaker.
Yeah, and then throw a clock radio in, if you're trying to commit the perfect murder.

If on our first date I had to ask you to help me get out of the bath tub so I could get ready?

would that count for fore-play....in your eyes?If on our first date I had to ask you to help me get out of the bath tub so I could get ready?
Yeah I would, but only so you dont get so wore out. I wouldnt want you to stroke out on meIf on our first date I had to ask you to help me get out of the bath tub so I could get ready?
That depends. Do you need help getting out because you're fat? If so, then that would count as community service. If you're attractive, however, then I would take it as flirting, but not so much fore-play, unless of course ';play'; follows immediately after.
this is uncomfortable, i really don't no what to say... depends, becuase if you want me to put on your make up, i draw the line right there... theres somethings a man just doesn't do! Just because my sister let me when i was like 5 that doesn't mean you can now ...Ohh i've said to much!
Depends on if he joined me in the tub. It would be a while before I'd be ready to get out of there once that started. Hot and steamy.
I would consider it a suggestion that you were open for foreplay.
No... that doesn't count as foreplay unless you try and do me as I'm helping you out. Weird question. Has something like this happened to you before?
yes...cause im a guy...and if i had to help you get out soo you could get ready i would see that as fore-play
That would count as a Personal Aid. You need social services to get you a nurse.
I'd be ready to get in the bath tub with you!! ;)
Stop trying to trick the young male virgins, Medusa.
that would be so f*ckin hot. screw the date....i think we have better plans...
    I'd say ';No! I'll get in the bath WITH you!';
that depends on what you were getting ready to do for our date

Bathing in the tub is fine, and probably the easiest, getting water on his head is fine, just be careful not to allow water to pour on his ears, that could cause him harm. Just get him wet enough to wash, if you are concerned or if your dog has ear problems, you could use a wash cloth to get its head wet, that way the water placement is more precise. Same with rinsing, just wipe down with a washcloth until all the soap is out. Good luck! And if the ears do get wet,go ahead and gently dry them with a towel. I do not think it is ok to put cotton in your dog's ears, by the way.Is it bad for my dog's ears to wash him in our standard bath tub? Suggestions for bathing my 24 lb. Shih-Tzu?
I would try the kitchen sink, but I guess the bath tub is ok. I wash my 45 pound dog in the shower with a hand held nozzle. Try puting cotton balls in his ears with a little petroleum jelly on them to repell some of the waterIs it bad for my dog's ears to wash him in our standard bath tub? Suggestions for bathing my 24 lb. Shih-Tzu?
    **OMG**!!

    24 LBS???

    WHAT a MONSTER!!!

That's DOUBLE the size they're SUPPOSED TO BE!!!!

Is it GROSSLY fat or just a POS example of the breed?

    Or BOTH???
You can bathe him in the tub(or the kitchen sink).... make sure he's combed out first as mats tighten when they get wet. Use luke warm water, dog shampoo, and dog conditioner(if you choose). Actually, bathing the dog is a good time to clean his ears(use a cotton ball w/ a small amount of rubbing alcohol) and wipe the inside of his ears(don't poke where you can't see).
There is stuff called swimmers ears that you can put in your dogs ears to help dry them out after you give it a bath. The groomer should pluck the dog's ears and clean them when it gets groomed.
I wash my Rott in my bathtub... I have one of those removable shower heads... that is all...
Just try to keep the water from flowing directly into his ears. They also make dry shampoos that require no water at all, check with your vet or pet store to see if they carry it
it's a good idea to place cotton ball in the dogs ear while bathing him in the tub, this prevent the water entering his ear and creating bacteria that can cause ear infections. There is ear solutions available for ear clean.
you can bathe him in the tub, just put cotton in his ears to keep the water out.
yeah, you can put cotton or a shower cap on him.

or put some oil or vasiline in his ears.

it will keep out the water. ^^
it is not bad at all just make sure that you do not get the shampoo all the way down its ears.

p.s i love those dogs they are so cute!!!

How do i unclog a drain pipe for the bath tub?

it depends on the pipe best bet go below the tub pull the p-trap clean it out look for diamonds. if your drain line is cast iron 1985ish and older you should check your branch line to your main, soap scum hair and skin oil stick to the inside of the pipes causing them to clog and drain slow rent a drain snake 3/8 cable is highly recomended and clean your line take your time dont force the cable it will do the work on its own. dont forget to have a bucket under the pipe and trap when you take it apart there will be some water come out of the pipe. How do i unclog a drain pipe for the bath tub?
put vinegar in the drain for a while and maybe the acid will eat through everything.I have never tried it but it might work.good luckHow do i unclog a drain pipe for the bath tub?
Try liquid drain cleaner. If that doesn't work, try a plunger over the drain and see if that will open it. If not then it's time to call a plumber.
There's a product on the market called ';Thrift';, that does a very good job of unclogging drains without using an acid base and is okay with septic tank systems. Below is a link to read about it. Hope this helps.
i know how this sounds, but the only thing you have to loose is the clog..... unscrew the screws on the round face plate where the bathtub water overflow drains, gently pull face plate up and towards you look for obvious clogs but also wear and tear on the movement of plug/unplug then pour about a cup of liq. plum gel, let set 20mins. then flush w/very hot water
Pour some powdered yeast down their first! The enzymes should eat through the crap! Plain ol' package of Fleschman's yeast should do the trick! Also works on septic systems! Wait a day and see! God Bless!
If you have tried these other things and they didn't work.Try looking at your stopper. Most tubs have a little lever on them.Take the two screws out then carefully pull the device straight up out of the opening(it has adjustments on it that may need adjusting)if this is hanging to low in your drain it could be causing your problem. After removing it temporarily try running some water and plunging again. If this doesn't work go somewhere and get one of those wire snakes put it down thru the hole where you pulled out the lever adjuster.Work it thru your tub trap this should take care of it,if not you have problems on down the line.
snake it, its possible to do yourself but I reccomend a plumber. Roto router is pretty good. You can search for a local retailer.
Get a snake at the hardware store, they'll know what it is so just ask. Also ask them the best way to use it. It is by far better than drano or anything to that extent.

Water breaking in a bath tub question 3 in 1 plz help?

    1. If it breaks in the tub will u feel it?

    2. Do you then have to get out ASAP?

3.They say u can take a bath up till ur water breaks not after cuz of infection is that true? I mean what about ppl that have the baby in water?

I asked this yesterday but didn't get to many answersWater breaking in a bath tub question 3 in 1 plz help?
The bath thing is a big wives tale, you can take a bath, the baby lives in water why would water hurt it. Yeah bubbles and such arn't great and can get places they shouldn't but don't stress.

If your water breaks it rarely breaks all at once and is just gone. It normally leaks and even if it gushes it takes a little time to all come out. You will know if you gush and if you leak when you get up you will still be leaking.Water breaking in a bath tub question 3 in 1 plz help?
    1. No you probably won't feel it break if you are in the bath tub

    2. I would

    3. I probably would not take one at home after my water broke. In the hospital ,it is a little different as you are being monitored by nurses.

It is very rare that a woman's water breaks on its own, not saying that it doesn't happen, but rare. I know, my first baby I started labor while I was shopping with my mother in law, the midwife broke my water 12 hours later. My second baby... somewhere around 2am I woke up and my crotch felt all sweaty so I got up to cool off and then BAM! there was water running down my leg. I woke up my husband to tell him I thought my water just broke and he asked me if I peed my self! go Figure.
if your breaks you may not feel it some women just trickle not gush but if your water does break get out of the tub because then there is a possibility of infection people that have babies in water are constantly watched and there are doctors there unlike if you are alone just taking a bath but here is a link
    1. Generally you do feel a popping, but its not always the case

    2. No if you arent in full blown labour, stay as long as you want

    3. No it will not cause any infection. Woman have water births all the time. Its soothing for mum and bubs

**If you don't know the answer, don't thumbs down people and reply with rubbish!!

If the water is clear bath water, no bubbles, then its fine to bath in once waters break!! Why the heck do you think they offer water births??
you will probably notice your waters breaking if you are in the bath, especially if you lose your waters in a gush. you dont have to jump out the bath at top speed, but it is best to come out to avoid infection getting in.
This might honestly be a question for your doctor, they are the only ones that would really know. please dont be afraid to ask them, thats what they are there for!!

How would u deep clean a bath tub?

?How would u deep clean a bath tub?
Try some soft scrub with bleach.=)How would u deep clean a bath tub?
Generally, I use Blue Wolf or Greased Lightening on my acrylic tub and with my old claw foot porcelain tub I add baking soda to scrub it. Preferably after a shower or bath, I spritz it, then wipe with my wash cloth and dispose of it afterwards. They always stay nice, shiny and sparkling clean with no scratches. Hope this helps!
what is the bathtub made of Porcelain, Fiberglass, what???

Generally speaking I would use Washing Soda and a Sponge ...SCRUB... and then rinse thouroughly

It cuts out more skin-oil residue than comet or other scrubbing celaners

It will also help minimize clogs from things like hair conditioner %26amp; bath oils if used regularly
I would clean it AFTER taking a HOT bath so it's easier... Depending on the material of the tub fiberglass, porceline.. I would probably use SOFT SCRUB w/ a BLUE or GREEN non-scratch nylon scrub pad... Then I would apply a nice coat of car wax to keep future stains from reappearing... !

    Good Luck
Use a non-abrasive cleaner and then make a solution of 1/4cup bleach in a gallon of water and rinse the tub with it. (make sure your cleaner has no ammonia in it)
try vinegar it cuts through most grease or baking soda or even tooth paste the last 2 are very mild abrasives. As suggested in one answer NEVER use any sort of polish in your bath as it can cause you a nasty accident by making the surface very slippery.
fill bath up then put washing powder in leave over night then rinse
With lots of cleaner and gloves to protect my soft hands

How do i unclog a drain pipe for the bath tub?

a can of coke , let it sit in drain for 15 mins then run hot water down drainHow do i unclog a drain pipe for the bath tub?
If everything else fails, use water pressure to force it through. For example, a garden hose in the drain sealed in place with a wet towel held all together with your hands. How do i unclog a drain pipe for the bath tub?
Depends on how clogged it is. If it's just running a little slow, try pouring a bottle of Coke down the drain and letting it sit for a while before running hot water down the drain. Coke is acidic enough that it'll eat away at most bathtub clogs (which are usually just some hair) - kind of makes you never want to drink it again, though.

If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to reach down there and pull up a wad of nasty.
The drain is probably plugged with hair. You can removed the little grating over the drain in the tub and dig the gunk out. Once you do that you can use a plunger to loosen the rest of the junk further down. It's kind of gross but it works.

Or you can try the Drano that others have mentioned.
Get a very good new style plunger, that is the best.
Pour a least 1/2 a gallon of bleach down the pipe once a month, it works better than Drano and it won't damage your pipes.
take the top plate off put a rag in to block off the air. the use a plunger on the drain. it will un clog
Try the foaming pipe snake by Drano or Liquid Plumber
take off the drain plate and take a coat hanger and start pushing it down there and see what you pull up...

or buy some strong drain cleaner and let it soak down there

    or call a plumber
a plunger .. got a dome shaped rubber top ... that creates a vacuum kinda effect ...or draino ... depends how clogged and whats causing the blockage ... u can also get one of those drain cleaner wire things from the hard ware store .. if u r renting ... its landlords responsibility
DRANO....its the most awesome stuff...it will unclog any drain! just pour it in and let it sit :)

Can i use my old bath tub for a boat if i fit a outboard to it and plug the drain hole up ?

In Australia for years a 10 or 15 hp outboard has been bolted to a standard bathtub and used for a popular bathtub regatta on various rivers and such. They go pretty good, and the two person class is very entertaining. They often carry two or three spare props due to smacking into rocks in the shallows during distance events!

A performance hint is to use the flat bit as the transom, and the round end as the bow - after that modifications are minimal - oh and flat bottomed baths are faster too.

Good luck! Can i use my old bath tub for a boat if i fit a outboard to it and plug the drain hole up ?
In most cases a ';cast iron'; tub would weight more than the water it displaces, so it wouldn't float........Try googling displacement for a full explanation of how this works. If you can measure the no. of gallons of water the tub would ';displace'; that's how much weight it would support including cargo (you) and equipment and the weight of the tub itself. Take the cubic feet contained in the tub X the weight in pounds or kilos that the equal volume of water would weigh, less the weights mentioned above. Keep in mind that filling the tub with splash would ad to the load......I hope this is understandable. Good luck. Can i use my old bath tub for a boat if i fit a outboard to it and plug the drain hole up ?
the bathtub by its self lacks sufficient floatation to carry the weight of and outboard and a person. but bathtubs with additional floatation are raced. fast bathtub speed boat racing began in British Columbia.

there are also bathtub raft races.

do a google search for bathtub boats and you will find a lot of sites.

    hope this helps
No. First of all the deign is different..a bathtub will not glide through the water like proper boats. it'll cause massive drag and it will disintergrate if put under too much strain..a bath tub is made of plastic not steel.
Yes, but it isn't going to go very far, very fast.

They even made some boats out of concrete on the Great Lakes years ago and floated.

Depends on the displacement in the water.
With a few modifications, yes. check out this link.

How to refinish a porcelain bath tub?

There are many brands of tub refinishing kits around. Most people I have heard from that did it are not happy with the results. Best to let a pro do it because you cannot buy the same materials they use. Plus you usually get a guarantee. Don't let anyone talk you into a tub liner installation. You can buy a new tub and have it installed for less than they charge.

What is difference between a hot tub and a bath tub?

thanksWhat is difference between a hot tub and a bath tub?
In a bath tub, you take a bath (with your clothes off...by yourself).

In a hot tub, you can slowly boil yourself to a mush in hundred degree waters, or request a few friends to join you. As you and your pals cook yourselves, you can actually keep your eyes open and your decency intact because you'd be most likely wearing a bathing suit of some sort. Of course, this also gives you a change to check someone out.............

    As a conclusion...

Bath tub= a usually private enterprise/cleaning process/daily requirement in most circles

Hot tub= an acceptably social activity/pleasure/not a requirement for health

Happy soakings! What is difference between a hot tub and a bath tub?
    According to dictionary.com. a hot tub is ';a wooden tub, usually large enough to accommodate several persons, that is filled with hot aerated water and often equipped with a thermostat and whirlpool: used for recreation or physical therapy and often placed out of doors, as on a porch.';

    The same site lists a bathtub as ';a tub to bathe in, esp. one that is a permanent fixture in a bathroom.';

Thus, the differences are location, usage, amenities (ie, thermostat and whirlpool), and mobility. I state mobility as a difference simply because a hot tub can be relocated whereas a bathtub cannot.

It's actually enjoyable to fart anywhere, especially in a public washroom. You know that it should be OK to do it there, but it's also rude to do so, isn't it? But in a bathtub, you get to SEE the fart, and that's special. Is it normal to enjoy farting in the bath tub?

Why do you have the possibility of electricuting yourself in a bath tub with a hair dryer?

People usually get accidentally electrocuted because they allow themselves to become ';grounded' while in contact with a ';live'; source of electrical power. The hair dryer is the potential source of ';live'; electrical power. The plumbing in the bath tub is the potential source of a ';ground';. Now all you need to do is imagine how you can place some part of your body between the two. Maybe fill the tub with warm conductive water (add some bath salts?), climb in, then drop the hair dryer in the tub.

Even if it's not turned on, there is a good chance that conductive water will reach the ';live'; terminal in the power cord, assuming the on/off switch is located on the dryer. The dryer will be wet from the water in the tub. You reflexively pick it up out of the water... gazap! You are now completing an electrical circuit, through your body, between the conductive wet hair dryer, the water, and the grounded plumbing.

The National Electrical Code requires that all bathrooms, or anyplace where small appliances can be used in the presense of water, to have GFI or Ground Fault Interrupter protected outlets. If these are installed and work as advertised, power to the outlet will be interrupted as soon as the dryer hits the water and electrocution will be avoided.

GFI protected outlets have a limited number of cycles (thousands) before they fail to protect anymore. So, they should be tested weekly to make sure they work. Pushing the ';Test'; button simulates dropping the hair dryer into the bath tub water, causing the ';Reset'; button to pop out, and power to be disconnected from the outlet. If this works, it will probably also work the next time. Still, I wouldn't be using a hair dryer while sitting in a bath tub and depending on a GFI protected outlet to save my life if something goes wrong.

All you astute electrical wizards will note that there are many conductive paths in the ';hair dryer in the bath tub'; scenario, none of which involve passing current through parts of a human body. This is true, but that doesn't mean there isn't enough current left over to do some real damage. It only takes a few thousandths of an ampere, passing through the heart, to cause ventricular fibrilation and death. Why do you have the possibility of electricuting yourself in a bath tub with a hair dryer?
    No Joke .

    Happened to a workmate's sister.

Current from the dryer (whether it is on or off) passes through the water %26amp; you to ground through the cold water pipes %26amp; drain .

Most often homes use the cold water supply line as the ground point for the electrical system. which you should never become part of .

This type of accident is why GFI breakers are required on all outlets within 6' of a water supply or drain.

They sense the fault ( current to ground) %26amp; shuts off power at the outlet before it can cause electrocution ( hopefully). Why do you have the possibility of electricuting yourself in a bath tub with a hair dryer?
My friend's sister was killed by her husband when he deliberately drugged her and put her hair dryer in the tub, with her. Only reason he got caught was she was terrified of taking a bath and always took showers. So the only reason you'd be electrocuted by a dryer in a tub is if your dumb or someone is out to get you. I hope it never happens to you.
Actually you probably won't electrocute yourself in a bathtub with a hair dryer unless there is water in the tub also. In that case the water conducts electricity through your body and shorts out your heart and brain.

How can I bath my 2 month old baby? can I take her with my self to bath tub or no?

Yes ofcourse you can. My son loved bathing with me. They enjoy the skin to skin contact. He could always smell my milk and would always feed whilst in the bath. Just make sure its not too hot for her and it is always easier if you have someone home to take her out when she is done. It is very difficult on your own.

She will love it trust me!!How can I bath my 2 month old baby? can I take her with my self to bath tub or no?
Baby bath tubs were SO akward for me. I simply did not feel comfortable trying to wash my son in one and keep him safe with the way he wiggled.

I took my son in the bath with me after about 2 attempts with a baby bathtub, it was much better. LOTS of parents take their kid into the bath tub also, don't think its weird. Isn't it just as much risk to drop your child on a hard tile bathroom floor or ceramic sink as it is a bath tub?? As well your body heat keeps them warmer.

This is what I did. I filled the tub with just a few inches of warm water. Then I would sit down cross legged (Indian style) in the tub and layed him in my lap. The water level would be just under my legs so that his back was wet laying down but there wasn't to much water.

My legs took the place of the baby tub, and because I can control my legs then I could hold him more tightly or loosen up depending on what he needed at each moment.

I used one hand to hold onto him also. Then I used my other hand to wash him. It was easier to rinse him also with plenty of water all around me and not worring arout trying to get around him in a small bath tub or spilling it.

I would also have a cup or scooper next to me in the tub to help rinse with and a towel in reach right outside of the tub.

After I was done with him I would wrap him in the towel and cuddle him for a few minutes. Then I would dry his hair, wrap him in another towel and hand him over to my husband so I could take my bath.

Hope that helps!! :)How can I bath my 2 month old baby? can I take her with my self to bath tub or no?
Yes, just keep in mind that adult soaps and shampoos can irritate her skin. You should use baby wash if she is in the tub w/ you.
I bathed my son in the sink. I sat him upright, leaning over my left arm(which I used to prop him up). The baby tub with a hammock is the best way. I tried taking him in the tub with me a few times but they're so darn slippery, I got nervouse and decided to not do it anymore.
Sure you can! Just make sure that the bath water is not too hot. Bathing with your baby is so comforting to the mother as well as the baby.

It would be easier though if they weren't such slippery little things LOL :)
I WOULD NOT take her in the tub with me. This is scary for her without other dangers present. Try using a small tub of water and a soft washcloth. Don't submerse her in water, just hold her and her wash off.
U can bath her however u want. My hubby and i would either bath our kids in their lil tub or give them a bath with us. we even took them in the shower with us. Just make sure u keep a really good grip on them cause they get real slippery. Plus my kids love showers as opposed to some kids i know who are deathly afraid of the shower cause they have never been in a actual shower only bath tubs
How have you been bathing her up until now? Ther eshould be no difference.

You can hold her in the bath with you, it's a great bonding experience, but you have to ensure the water isn't going to burn her skin.

Test it with your elbow, it shouldn't feel any colder or warmer than the skin on your elbow :)
you can bathe him in the sink with one of those spongy pad thingies, or in an infant bathtub. you can take him in the bath rub with you if you like but i would wait until he had good control of his head and neck. we took out son in the shower with us, being very careful of course. he loved it.
I wouldn't....they are really squirmy and the soap doesn't make it any easier...

I would use a baby tub available at any drug store or large chain discount store near you...

I would wait til baby can sit up before sharing a bath with mamma...it'd be easier for both of you I suspect.
u can use an infant bath or u can take her with u into the tub. the only problem with taking a bath with ur baby is how will u wash yourself when u need to use your hands to carry the baby. the baby would also be sitting in your dirty bath water.

i used the infant bath and bathed him on the floor in the livingroom. it was much easier
I did with all 4 of mine. They also went in the shower with me too.
yeah that is what my mom did to me
are you just now bathing your baby?? if so why?? i found that having baby in shower or tub with me was hard to hold them the water makes them slippery, i use a baby bath they are a god send, get one.
If I knew my husband was there for the ';hand-off'; then I did. and it's really easy.

If you're sitting inthe tub with your knees bent, just use your thighs as a back rest for the baby. when the baby is all sparkly.. then hand her off to daddy fo the dry off.. you can finish up, by then baby should be dry, powdered, and diapered.. then you can finish.. or this could all be time with daddy.
yes... you can take her in the bathtub or the shower (they're slippery though)
Use the sink. Line it with a folded towel. If you leave the drain open but the towel covering the drain, it won't overflow while still holding enough water for the bath. Also this way you don't have to bend over. I use the bathroom sink for little babies and use the kitchen sink when they outgrown the bathroom sink.
You could try the kitchen sink - it's nice because you can stand. Clean the sink really good, then put a towel in to cover the bottom and sides (makes it more comfortable for baby). It worked for me when I had twins.
It really depends on what you are comfortable with. I wasn't comfortable trying a bath with my daughter until she was 4 mo old. She promptly pooped in the tub. I very quickly got out, slapped a diaper on her bum, stuck her in the crib and took a very hot shower. LOL. I've not tried a bath with any of my children since.

What DOES work for me, is a very little bit of water in the tub and lay baby in the tub. I wash with one hand while placing the other hand on baby's chest to make sure that s/he doesn't roll over. Washing baby in a freshly cleaned kitchen sink works well for my hubby but it never worked well for me.
no i think you shouldn't take her with you, if you decide to, be careful with her ears

Well, wiki says it has to be stored in either polyethelene or teflon coated containers, so I guess the tub would have to be coated with one of those if you didn't want to lose the tub along with the body... oddly, they don't say the proper kind of bathtub to use.

    from wiki:

';Hydrofluoric acid is notoriously known to dissolve glass by reacting with SiO2, the major component of most glasses:

    SiO2(s) + 4HF(aq) 鈫?SiF4(g) + 2H2O(l)

    or

    SiO2(s) + 6HF(aq) 鈫?H2[SiF6](aq) + 2H2O(l)

Consequently, it must be stored in polyethylene or Teflon containers. It is also unique in its ability to dissolve almost all inorganic metal and semimetal oxides.';Do I have to have a steel bath tub to dissolve a body with hydrofluoric acid ?
You should have a plastic tub, preferably polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), or a ceramic-coated steel tub, or a tub coated with paraffin wax. HF(aq) will attack steel.
Hydrofluoric acid will attack steel -- and almost anything else. One exception is wax, so the stuff is shipped in wax-lined bottles.
A steel bath would not work. A Stainless steel tub can be used, as well as polypropylene, which would be less costly.

Is it safe to use a Bebe Pod or Bumpo seat in the bath tub?

My daughter need help sitting in the tub. Bath ring won't work because the suction cups won't stick to a non skid tub surface. I can't find any warnings about using these in the bath tub. Does anyone out there know if they are safe (with close supervision, of course). I need to find a solution FAST because my back is killing me! HELP !!!Is it safe to use a Bebe Pod or Bumpo seat in the bath tub?
The bumpo won't work - it floats and there is a warning about it on the box. There is a great seat that attaches to the side of the tub - see the link.Is it safe to use a Bebe Pod or Bumpo seat in the bath tub?
I really don't think the Bumpo will work because it will not stay

under it will want to float so that is out. You can use the kitchen sink or bathroom sink. They sell this cool device that is safe for baby to sit in straight up but I don't know what it is called.

Whatever you decide don't turn your back for a second I have a 8 month old and she gets into everything. You really have to watch them like a hawk.

What kind of bath tub or system is easiest for new baby and parents??

I know we will not be bathing the baby in a tub or anything like that for the first few weeks till the cord comes off but I was wondering that kind of baby bath tub or system you experienced parents recommend, I was going to just go with a baby bath tub and sling but then I have had a lot of ppl tell me its a waste of space and money and just to get a baby sponge and use the tub or sink? So what works best and is most cost and space effective??What kind of bath tub or system is easiest for new baby and parents??
It is far easier to just put the baby in the kitchen sink with a towel, folded and laid up the side and on the bottom of the sink. Those cute little tubs are hard to use, I had one with my first. It is hard to move the baby around to wash them. And then you have to find a place to put it. Just ends up being one big hassle. What kind of bath tub or system is easiest for new baby and parents??
I live in an apartment and our sink is to small, I received the Fisher Price Bath Tub at my baby shower and my baby loved it!!! She knew that when I would put out the little bath tub that it was bath time. It has a sling, but we do not use that anymore as she is now 6 months, it also comes with three little toys that she loves to play with.
We have the Soothing Spa and Shower Baby Bath. It's a tub and sling. Those are the only two parts that we have used since our daughter is almost 9 weeks old. We love it. If you don't have the space for a tub then don't buy one use the sink. Our sinks are WAY too small and I am not comfortable bathing the baby there. We are yet to use the shower and spa attachments. I would like for our baby to get used to the shower, my niece is deathly scared of the shower and I don't want my daughter to be like that. Good luck!
i used the baby tub and and little swing. I love it I bathe my baby alone so it is easy for me. I have been doing this ever since he was born and I still use it. He will be 2 mths next wednesday and it fits him perfectly. I also like the gadger that tells you the temperature.

I use the wash clothes to bathe him I feel more comfortable in the swing because hes just laing there than the sink (they often get slippery) and in the swing he doesnt even move. and well the tub is to big for a little baby.

The one I bought was like 20 or less. i would highly recommend it! Especially new moms! I ought mine at wal mart and its of a frog maybe u can see it and use it
Baby tubs are so difficult because it's hard holding the baby and trying to wash at the same time. The easiest thing I found was getting into the regular tub with my baby and holding him/her on my lap while bathing. It's so much easier to hold him and it's great mom/baby bonding time. When they get old enough to sit on their own, the bath tub chairs are great for bathing. Good Luck~
well using your kitchen sink is the most cost effective.

if you want another cheap method just fill the bathtub with a lil bit of water and lay a towel down and put the baby on the towel.

i have also used a baby bath tub, but after a short while they get too small and do seem like a waste.
My son is 9 weeks old and we use the fisher price aquarium tub. It's a little pricier than I would've liked but it has a hammock in it that cradles a tiny baby so you can bathe them easier.
With the help of the father I shower with my baby. When he can sit up by himself I will get a bathring to bath him.

Searching for products to clean and sanitize a jacuzzi bath tub?

UPDATE: It's just a bathtub folks - not a hot-tub! Is it a public tub or just for your residence? If the latter, why would you need hospital grade stuff?? Seems a bit like over kill to go to a janitorial supply place for your personal bathtub.

How about a spray bottle with a dilute solution of water and bleach? Great for grout too! For me, bleach is a wonder product when it comes to sanitizing and leaving a smell of clean. DO NOT mix it with other cleaning products, especially those for the bathrooms, as it sometimes creates HCl acid fumes.Searching for products to clean and sanitize a jacuzzi bath tub?
Smarty- you were absolutely right! I did mis-read the question and thought the asker was referring to a hot tub. Good for you for thoroughly reading the question. Your ten points were well deserved!!!

Searching for products to clean and sanitize a jacuzzi bath tub?
We use the peroxide based sanitizers - BaquaSpa or SpaGuard. Every three months we drain and clean the spa with a bleach, then rinse with a restaurant grade sanitizer. Fully rinse again, and refill. Re-set the sanitizer, pH, and mineral levels, and we're ready to tub.

In between cleanings, I like to add a few drops of Tea Tree oil to the tub. We like the smell, and it is a good anti-bacterial, fungal and viral agent.

'B.T.F. Iodophor Sanitizer' is the brand of restaurant grade sanitizer I mentioned. It is an iodine based sanitizer, so DO NOT leave it on long, or it will stain the tub.
Forget the chemicals. Get a hand held steam cleaner and take your time using it. You can burn youself with live steam. It wil cost between 40 and a hundred dollars depending on which one you get. But it will clean almost anything if used properly. Disinfection is just a small part of it's work.
Foget the bleach. There are better products available throught your local janitorial supplier. They will have hospital grade disinfectants that will kill everything (things bleach can't touch). Call to see which brands they have and take their advice, they are the experts. One brand that is really great is Hillyard and one of their best products is called QT. I know these things because I work for a janitorial supplier.

  • Do you get a full bath tub in a cruise ship cabin or just a shower stall?

The only time you get a tub is with some suites. The Queen Victoria has one of the most luxurious tubs. Regular cabins have a stand-up shower.

    See link please..

    http://honeymoons.about.com/od/hotelreso鈥?/a>

Hope I helped!Do you get a full bath tub in a cruise ship cabin or just a shower stall?
In general, it depends on the category of cabin you purchase. If you book a suite or villa, or the equivalent from one cruise company to another, you will have a shower and a bathtub similar to what you have at home, or there could be a shower stall separate from the bathtub. Standard staterooms usually have a shower only.Do you get a full bath tub in a cruise ship cabin or just a shower stall?
I have had a bathtub on one cruise I went on and I know it wasn't a suite! I've never been in a suite. I don't remember which ship but I'm pretty sure it was one of Holland America. It was just that one time though and I've been on a ton of cruises. So count on a shower and usually it isn't even a stall, just a curtain around a corner of the bathroom.
Whether you get a bathtub or just a shower depends on the cruise line, the ship, and the catagory of cabin you occupy. Most of the tubs are a bit smaller than you find at home or in accommodations on shore, but they often have built-in jaccuzi jets, too.
Depends. If you have one fo the fancier suites, you get a shower stall and the size gets smaller. if you have one of those super expensive suites they give you a bathtub. or you can just go to the pools or the spa.
Varies with the cruise line. The cheaper cabins only have a shower but on many cruise lines window cabins and/or balcony and upwards cabins will have a bath tub. They are a little on the smaller size to what you would have at home.
Only if you get a suite do you get a bath tub, but the tubs are a little on the small size. All the rest of the cabins you get a shower. At least this is the way it is with all Princess cruise ships.

I had a weird dream please help. I saw 2 babies they were in the bath tub drowning.?

i saved them one by one by picking them up and they seemed fine afterward.

i remember feeling scared and not focused in the dream, i guess because of the pressure.

thank you in advance. serious interpretations only.I had a weird dream please help. I saw 2 babies they were in the bath tub drowning.?
perhaps you astral traveled to a situation where that was about to happen. as crazy as it sounds, there are some crazy mothers out there who try and drown their kids. maybe you saved them via the spirit.I had a weird dream please help. I saw 2 babies they were in the bath tub drowning.?
The emotional continuity makes it likely it was a meaningful dream.

Just a guess here, but did you grow up in a desperate situation - an alcoholic home, something like that? My brother and I were in a violent alcoholic home for a year when we were preteen, and I later had a dream about a furnace. When I realized we hadn't checked inside the furnace before starting it, I opened the door and two charred children, about the ages we had been, stepped out with stunned expressions. It was pretty horrible.

In your case the situation would have started from infancy but must have continued into childhood, or you wouldn't have remembered it. Later you grew and were able to regain control, as represented by taking the babies out of the water.

    Anyway, that's my guess.
Hi, here are the symbols that I see in this dream.

The two babies is a symbol that you are about to give birth to something new in your life, something that needs lots of care and attention in order to reach its full potential.

Bathrooms are where we cleanse, freshen up and relieve ourselves.

So when we need to ';wash away'; negativity or get rid of something we no longer need, we just may find ourselves in the loo in our dreams.

Water is your emotions. The state of the water will reflect the state of your emotions.

So this means that you may be getting in over your head, getting in too deep. An increasingly tough situation.

This could be a job, relationship or a new project you are starting.

Hope that helps, and good dreams to you :)

My tenant has just filled my house with water leaving a tap drip in the bath tub watering plants am i covered?

with normal tenant insurance i have not intent or malicious damage insuranceMy tenant has just filled my house with water leaving a tap drip in the bath tub watering plants am i covered?
It depends on what perils your policy covers. If water damage is covered then your insurer will pay for the loss subject to your deductible. They would then go after your tenant for the loss. If your tenant does have a Tenant's Policy then they should be filing a claim with their insurer, as this would be covered under the liability section. My tenant has just filled my house with water leaving a tap drip in the bath tub watering plants am i covered?
I would read the policy contract. Some policies cover accidental water damage and some specifically exclude it. It all depends on the form. Good Luck
Homeowners insurance will cover the damage but they will sue your tenant for the costs.

I have heard that hot baths can help your body release toxins, but, how long you should do this before your body reabsorbs the toxins... I have no idea.
Mm...it'll make your dead skin gone, if you combine it with some scrubbing.

The pore will be open after the bath, so you if you apply some lotion, it'll absorb it very well and it's good for your skin

The hot tub will relax your mind...especially with bath salt, candles and some slow music...awww...
I don't think there are any specific health benefits, except that it helps you relax and de-stress and all that.

Also allows you to hog the bathroom and annoy your older/younger brother/sister, which is always a great mood-lifter.
Peace....and some alone time. Great benefits, especially health wise.
relaxation melts away some aches and pains, clears your mind, and helps you to get to sleep easier after a long hard day of work.
    Mind relaxation.....!
non maybe it will make your skin Soggy...

How old should a child be, before you can leave them alone in the bath tub?

I was talking about it at work with some ppl and we all said different things other than it depends on the child.

what is your thoughts on this topic? How old should a child be, before you can leave them alone in the bath tub?
That is a question that no two mothers will agree on.

You will get a range of answers.

It's really up to you when it comes down to the deciding factor.

I do agree it has a lot to do with your child. If your child sits down and knows not to stand up, then I think at the age of 2 is ok to leave the child alone for a little while. I'm not talking about hours. I mean like 5-10 min while you run to do something else.

If your child is very active in the tub, then leaving the child is not a good idea until he/she is 3 years old.

You have to make sure there is only a little water in the tub and you have a skid proof mat so the child won't be sliding around.

Me personally, I think at the age of 2 is ok. I will leave my two kids in the tub for 2-5 minutes while I get there pj's ready. But for the most part, I still always sit in the bathroom with them.

So, at the age of 3 years old, I will probably trust that they will be ok in the bathtub.

You alwys make sure your in ear shot of the bathroom. How old should a child be, before you can leave them alone in the bath tub?
lol i hope 4, cuz my 4 yr old is alone in the tub right now..i guess it depends though, he knows how to swim and float, so i trust him a little more around water...i can hear him though, so if it got quiet for more than 5-10 seconds i would call him or go in there.
    Five years
whenever the child is responsible enough

    around 5...
Once a child can swim independently, I would say it would be okay for a brief moment but the thing is, anything can happen in the tub. They could pass out for some mysterious reason or hit their head or accidently inhale too much water while trying to blow bubbles or something. A lot can happen so I wouldn't really leave them alone until they are more out of baths and into taking showers. Just my opinion.
I would say about 4 yrs old.
well, my son is 3 1/2 now and i might walk away to put the lid down on the washing machine, or answer the phone or something, but i wouldnt leave him alone in the tub.

on the other hand, he often takes showers and as long as i leave the door open and can hear him moving around, talking to himself, playing with the toys, i might fold laundry or straighten up the house (its a small house, never out of ear shot!)
Well it really does depend on the child. I think it should be anywhere from 3-5. My best friends oldest was allowed to take bathes alone by age three. Of course the bathroom door had to be left open and she was checked on occasionally to make sure she was alright. Usually we knew she was becasue she was splashing around and laughing. She wasn't allowed to be alone with the door closed until she was 5.
Maya is 2 1/2, and she can swim, hold her breath and all. But I do not feel comfortable leaving her alone even though she would probably be okay 99% of the time. But that other1% is the one you have to worry about. I will leave when she is in the shower, and in earshot. I usually have a conversation with her when I do this.

It is hard, because a child of 11 could get up slip and drown, but that doesn't mean you should sit in the room with them. I agree that it should be done incrementally and wait until the child begins asking for privacy.
i get really scared about leaving my 4 year old cuz in the bath tub to go get a towel lol i would say....5
My daughter is now two and half. I don't see any time soon when I can leave her alone in the bath, I get everything ready before I bring her to the bath. I still take her out of the bath if I need to get something. I think it all depends on the child. Some are ready at an early age, others need to wait until they are older. You will most likely know when your child is old enough.

I feel, even if the parent checks on the child every 5-10 minutes, I don't think it is good enough. If something happens, then it will be to late by the time you find them. Their life is to special to have anything happen.
My daughter was 5, but I left the door open and talked to her as I done my chores. I waited until she became more modest and closed the door herself!

    Bath tub drain replacement?

I tried to use pliers to unscrew the drain but it was so coroded that the crossbars just fell apart. So I tried to loosen it from around the tub and the drain pipe separated from the tub. Can I fix this without taking the whole tub out? If I have to call a plumber, how much does this usually run? Thanks in advance.Bath tub drain replacement?
Which type of drain have you got?

    http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=ho鈥?/a>

There are actually 2 connections with a tub drain...

    1) there is the plumbing connection itself, where the drain directs the water into the house plumbing....we need to know if youve got plastic or metal drain pipes. If it is plastic...it is possible the drain is actually glued together... which means you'll have to cut it apart.

    2) there may be a locking nut on the bottom side of the tub, that holds the drain in place...its easier to take this type apart from UNDER the tub.

Next question is what is under the floor? Is this tub over a basement, crawlspace, or living space? Is there an access panel (sometimes located on the other side of the wall).Bath tub drain replacement?
    Go to this website: www.managemyhome.com

You should be able to find your answer here from a certified license technical online support team.

You can also click on Ask An Expert and they will provide you with step by step details on how to do the replacement.

Oh! by the way this is a very reliable site. I manage the team that answers these questions and was active in getting the Ask An Expert section functional.
We don`t all have the same house and live in the same area. Can you tell us what floor the tub is on? If its the main floor , do you have a basement? If not is there an open area on the other side of the wall the taps are on that you can get to and cut a small 12';x !2'; section of the wall out near the floor? That will give you acess to the bottom of the tub. Go to Home depot or Rona and most of them will give you an idea of what to do and where to look.
When you replace the drain on the tub, you would have to seperate the drain pipe from the tub. Usually you have to go into the crawl space to do it. You have to put the fitting around the drain pipe, screw it into the drain coming out of the tub, and tigten it down.

If you ever had to clean a rough surfaced tub, you would see that all those particles that make the surface rough , hold onto dirt , minerals and soap scum very well and you would wish you had a sand blaster to get it clean.I know bath tub mats are to reduce chances of slips and falls, but WHY are the tubs and showers made slippery?
That's an excellent question. It's most likely a matter of production concerns trumping safety and user concerns. It's cheaper and easier to make ALL surfaces of a product the same. Another way of saying that is that most folks select the less expensive product and pay the price of unsafe over the life of the thing. There are, however, tubs and showers that have a non-slip surface where you tread. We used one just last week that was excellent in non-slip and had a very good appearance. It was in an upscale home.
The smooth (slippery surface) makes it easier to keep clean. A highly textured surface would hold dirt/soap scum/fungus more efficiently.
To make them easier to clean and more hygenic
    makes them easier to clean

    B.
Because a smooth surface is easier to clean as compared to a textured one...Look at the mats, they get downright nasty after awhile and have to be soaked in cleaner or replaced, unless you wipe them down daily...
Most modern tubs and showers are made non slip. It is just that soap scum tends to build up over time and make a non slip tub like a greased pig.
It's cheaper to manufacture a tub with the same surface all over.

The mats work well, and can be washed in the washing machine, along with a couple of towels (for friction). Add vinegar to the wash to help with stains.

How funny would it be if a peanut was in your bath tub?

And was singing High School Musical songs into your loofa? How funny would it be if a peanut was in your bath tub?
Hmmm, a butt peanut, LOL. I am not sure if I would like it singing into my loofa, though. I think my loofa would be singing to the peanut. =)How funny would it be if a peanut was in your bath tub?

It could rust if you do not repair it.

You could pick up a kit from home depot or lowes for a do it yourself option. There are also many contractors who specialize in scratch repairs, who may be able to make the scratch seem like it was never there at all. It may cost you about $100-200 depending on the size.

What is the best bath tub?

I am trying to find the best bath tube to purchase for my new born. He is due on feb 18th. I want a tub i can use as an newborn, infant and toddler. Please give me links and pictures. What is the best bath tub?
This is the tub we have http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d鈥?/a> Our son is 11 weeks old and we have been using it since his cord fell off. The sling is good for newborns. We are still using it but our son will be too big before long. When they are too big you unhook the lower end of the sling and your baby can sit on a built in seat in the bottom of the tub and still use the head rest to support his head. Once he doesn't need the headrest you can remove the entire sling and just use the tub. We love ours and use it for every bath. What is the best bath tub?
It's a waste of money trying to find one you can use for newborn, infant, and toddler stages. You're better off using the kitchen sink or just getting a REALLY cheap tub to use at first.

We used a tub for about 3 months until we finally realized it was a waste of effort. Then we just got a bath sponge our son could lay on in the tub. Then, when he could sit up well, we just sat him up in the tub.

A baby bath tub for a toddler and older infant is kind of impractical.
I haven't got a chance to use it yet cause my baby will not be born til late april but I bought the Primo Eurobath. I believe its the biggest one out there. So if u have a regular size bathtub to put it in it MIGHT not fit. I have a garden tub so I am fine. I knew it was big but its just what I wanted, I can't wait to use it. It has no pads or anything on it which I am glad cause I was afraid of having those turn moldy or mildewy, didn't want to mess with that at all. u can use this one from birth to 2yrs and another thing I love about it is its pretty deep, which means the babies body can pretty much be submerged into the water (depending on the amount of water u put in) that way the baby wont get cold.

I had read alot of tub reviews and everyone kept saying how their baby would cry and hate baths but it was probably because it was cold, I'd cry too if I was not in the warm water. anyway the link is below, check it out.

I can not find this in the stores I ordered mine from toys r us. :-) if u go to the toys r us link below u can read through the 273 reviews on it, it has a very good rating. again its big but on the Primobaby site they give u an idea on how to store it by hanging on the wall. that is what I am gonna do :-)

Edit: I just have to come back and add, and I know everyone is different but for me I could NEVER use a kitchen sink to bath a baby, that will just make me puke all over the place that is so nasty. Justing thinking of our dirty it could be and the fact that u rinse off raw meat in there and everything, ehhhhhh I don't care if it was cloroxed first that is soooo nasty to me I could not do it.
sry I have 2 kids and I never had a baby tub

what they were newborns I used the kitchen sink with a towl en the bottom and when they out grew the sink they took a normal bath with the sit in seat to keep them in place.

I think that those tubs are just a marketing scam to make us spend more then we need.
I bought a tub with my daughter but then when we had our son we never bought one. I am expecting again and will not buy one. You will not use it very often. But if you are set in getting one I would get one that is reasonably priced and doesn't have all the bells and whistles. You will just be paying for the look. If you can get a bath that grows with your baby. Try to get something so you can get the best out of your money.
This is the one we bought for our son!! We love it!!

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/detail.gs鈥?/a>

It does have a sling that fits into that you can use when you give your newborn a sponge bath or when they are very little. We used in on the counter at first then put it in the bath tub once we took the sling out!

    Congrats on your little one!!!
Honestly, I doubt you'll use a tub much. I take a bath with my baby every night. We both get cleaned and bond..and there isn't an extra tub getting in the way or needing to be filled, emptied, or cleaned. You can also by a floatie foam pad for the big tub. You'll only use a baby tub til your wee one is sitting up really well anyway. Why waste the money?
    I bought this one originally:

and while it was nice to have for the first few weeks when we were so nervous bathing him, he outgrew it really quickly. The last time we used it we could only put like a quarter of an inch of water in it because he displaced so much!

    Now I have this one:

and I think that's what I should have bought from the very start. It's amazing and should grow with him just fine.
i got this one for my son

I spent a huge amount of money on a first steps one that leaked.

My 20 dollar target brand one is perfect.
